WebJan 18, 2024 · The early weird ones are called "big dot" C-4's because there's a big dot on the shift indicator. The shift pattern, beginning with the shift lever pulled all the way down, is 1st, then the "big dot" setting which will have your vehicle shift from 1st, to 2nd, to 3rd. All other gears work fine, including reverse. Tranny was rebuilt 25-30 years ago, but has low mileage. Mildly built 302 in front of it. Has shift kit installed when rebuilt last. B&M shifter. In the Drive position I believe that the transmission shifted 1-2 almost immediately and then to 3rd (I'm going by engine RPM at speed) I should be at 2300 RPM in 3rd at 50 MPH which was verified so I assume I have 3rd gear.
