Landlords or agents can be liable for fines (civil penalties) of up to £3,000 per tenant without a right to rent. WebbExemptions from Right to Rent Children under the age of 18 don’t need to be checked. There’s also special guidance in place for Right to Rent checks on long-term non-EEA nationals and Windrush generation, who often have a legal right to live in the UK but may be unable to prove it. Again, use the Landlord Checking Service if you’re unsure.
